8 July... the night when she went for a gathering dinner with her school mates at Suntec Fish & Co.

She was alone... waiting at the orange checkered table for her friends... till someone walked up behind her back... with a slight tint of uncertainty in his voice, he asked "Are you J?" She turned her head and looked at that familiar face that brightened up suddenly... "Are you Y then?" She chuckled, thinking it had been a few years since they had last met at the convocation... He looked embarrassed... and his eyes drifted sideways... as if seeking for help... but there wasn't anyone around...

Feeling surprised with his silence, she said "Yup... I'm J... you are Y right...can't recognize me?"

He looked a little unsure... still with his face showing a slight tint of red... He couldn't be sure what to do or say... and kept quiet... She smiled at him and said "you are Y right... err... why you are still standing outside the restaurant... come on in ar...” He looked at her face... feeling much more relieved upon seeing her sweet smile... and jokingly climb over the restaurant railing to hop onto the seat next to her.. She gasped... "What you doing... go through the door...” she said, looking astonished... He looked right into her wide eyes, smiled sweetly and headed towards the restaurant door...

Dinner started after the rest of their friends reached... She could feel the attention from him through out the dinner... but always quickly brushed it asides... Her friends looked happy upon learning that she was back to her single life again... and especially him... His face was radiant and his body language showed interest towards her every word and language...

His mind was filled up with everything about her... every move she made... every smile she flashed... every words spoken through her delicate sweet cherry lips... he passed his mobile phone to her and asked her to key in her msn email address into it so that they can continue to catch up.. Deep down inside him... he's afraid that he will be rejected... he's afraid that she will say that she doesn’t msn... he's afraid... carefully she took over his mobile from his now cold hands and started keying in her email address with her delicate fingers.. And he kept looking at her every move... as if trying to engrave each and every small little details of her into his memory... she passed the mobile back to him.. He felt excited... as this was her first message keyed into his mobile phone... quietly... he saved her message into the archive folder...

The night ended with the much-sought after catching up... and more plans to catch up further among the four friends... as the friends bid goodnight to each other... their eyes met again... and he smiled sweetly at her... with his heart making a quiet decision.. He hoped to see her again... hoped to hear her sweet voice again... hoped to have the chance to date her soon...

she felt a slight stirred in her heart and pondered why..

.. To be continued... ;P

Staying Alive.. Time will heal all wounds..

This is an article I wrote in June 2004...

=============================

There she is... wearing one of her favorite pair of shorts... clad in a navy blue Mickey Mouse jacket... hugging onto her bf.. They are going at a fast speed... the breeze is refreshing...though the engine oil from other vehicles is stinky... all is well... with her warm hands softly caressing his waist... another junction to cross before reaching their destination..

...."buang"....

The next moment... She's on the cold hard tar ground... She wasn't sure what had happened... and only sees blood profusely out of her hands and legs... The bike she's on has skidded...

"Are you ok? How are you feeling...? Are you ok?"

She looked up... and saw him squatting besides her... prompting her with lotsa questions... The bike is lying on the ground nearly...

Faintly, she said... "I'm ok...”

She knows she shouldn't be sitting on the tar ground... In her mind, she was thinking... 'It's too dangerous... I must get out of here fast...’ Without further a due, she quickly got up and walked over to the pavement... "Oooooh..." Another bike has whooshed past her... missing her by only a mere 0.5m... Frightened, she quickened her pace and kept looking from side to side for any vehicles...

Sitting by the pavement... she felt cold... her eyes are slightly darkened... She knows she's going to faint... but fight on to keep those heavy eyelids opened... Her face and lips had all turned pale...

"Are you ok... I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm sorry.... I'm sorry... sorry...sorry......"

She can hear those bloodsuckers (mosquitoes) hovering around her... She got quite a few bites on her bare legs and arms... 'The blood must have attracted them...' She began to feel very thirsty... With much effort, she managed to speak... "Can you get me some water...I felt like vomiting..."

"Ok...Ok...you wait for me here... dun goes away... I'm going to buy some water...Wait for me...."

She felt cold... the blood still profusely out of her badly injured kneecap and hand...

"Come...Drink some..."

"Sorry...sorry... I'm sorry...I'm really sorry... sorry...sorry..."

He wanted to bring her to the doc... But she couldn't really get up... Every time she tried to move... She felt intense pain on her legs... the cold sweat was non-stop... her face still as pale... They sat there for some time... perhaps for 20mins before they managed to make their way to the void deck to rest...

At the void deck, she sat on the floor... only then can she feel the blood flowing from her cold legs back to her body... Taking sips of water... and slowing regain her strength...

Another 20mins had passed...

They were at the doc now... Clearly enough, it's an accident... The nurses seem more anxious than the patients...Prompting so many questions yet without leaving the boundary swivel-door that keeps them apart...

Inside the doc room, the doc tried his best to re-assure both patients... explaining the very details of what his treatment going to be... how the wounds were going to recover.. Taking blood pressure, pulse rate... washing the wounds with antiseptic... etc...

It's going to be an outpatient treatment... both she and him having some serious abrasions all over...

With the bike by their side, they slowly wobbled back to their destinations... joking about being romantic... and laughing over what had happened... Inside their heart... guilt and fear still arousing within them...

Whatever had happened, Time will heal all wounds...
