This is an article I wrote in June 2004...

=============================

There she is... wearing one of her favorite pair of shorts... clad in a navy blue Mickey Mouse jacket... hugging onto her bf.. They are going at a fast speed... the breeze is refreshing...though the engine oil from other vehicles is stinky... all is well... with her warm hands softly caressing his waist... another junction to cross before reaching their destination..

...."buang"....

The next moment... She's on the cold hard tar ground... She wasn't sure what had happened... and only sees blood profusely out of her hands and legs... The bike she's on has skidded...

"Are you ok? How are you feeling...? Are you ok?"

She looked up... and saw him squatting besides her... prompting her with lotsa questions... The bike is lying on the ground nearly...

Faintly, she said... "I'm ok...”

She knows she shouldn't be sitting on the tar ground... In her mind, she was thinking... 'It's too dangerous... I must get out of here fast...’ Without further a due, she quickly got up and walked over to the pavement... "Oooooh..." Another bike has whooshed past her... missing her by only a mere 0.5m... Frightened, she quickened her pace and kept looking from side to side for any vehicles...

Sitting by the pavement... she felt cold... her eyes are slightly darkened... She knows she's going to faint... but fight on to keep those heavy eyelids opened... Her face and lips had all turned pale...

"Are you ok... I'm sorry...I'm sorry...I'm sorry.... I'm sorry... sorry...sorry......"

She can hear those bloodsuckers (mosquitoes) hovering around her... She got quite a few bites on her bare legs and arms... 'The blood must have attracted them...' She began to feel very thirsty... With much effort, she managed to speak... "Can you get me some water...I felt like vomiting..."

"Ok...Ok...you wait for me here... dun goes away... I'm going to buy some water...Wait for me...."

She felt cold... the blood still profusely out of her badly injured kneecap and hand...

"Come...Drink some..."

"Sorry...sorry... I'm sorry...I'm really sorry... sorry...sorry..."

He wanted to bring her to the doc... But she couldn't really get up... Every time she tried to move... She felt intense pain on her legs... the cold sweat was non-stop... her face still as pale... They sat there for some time... perhaps for 20mins before they managed to make their way to the void deck to rest...

At the void deck, she sat on the floor... only then can she feel the blood flowing from her cold legs back to her body... Taking sips of water... and slowing regain her strength...

Another 20mins had passed...

They were at the doc now... Clearly enough, it's an accident... The nurses seem more anxious than the patients...Prompting so many questions yet without leaving the boundary swivel-door that keeps them apart...

Inside the doc room, the doc tried his best to re-assure both patients... explaining the very details of what his treatment going to be... how the wounds were going to recover.. Taking blood pressure, pulse rate... washing the wounds with antiseptic... etc...

It's going to be an outpatient treatment... both she and him having some serious abrasions all over...

With the bike by their side, they slowly wobbled back to their destinations... joking about being romantic... and laughing over what had happened... Inside their heart... guilt and fear still arousing within them...

Whatever had happened, Time will heal all wounds...
